Mission Statement

2021 is the eighth year of the Genius Garage Program. This year will be similar to previous years with the students finding themselves preparing for more competitions, going on more powerful field trips, and an even greater emphasis will be placed on building individual skill sets and learning from mentors. Students will be selectively chosen to become apprentices to Casey Putsch, shadowing both hands-on and business skills to further their careers. As well as Automotive Design and Aerospace design, the students can focus on any area of expertise, including race cars, social media or business, that they’d like to master. The current race cars they will be working on are a 1997 Reynard Champ/Indy Car, an open cockpit WSC LeMans endurance prototype, and an IMSA Corvette project. The students will find themselves in the rarified air of the proverbial professional mountain top of the racing, design, aerospace and social media world.

The year is currently underway, so check back often and follow the team’s social media on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube to see their progress, growth, and amazing travels with interesting mentors!

Genius Garage is a 501(c)3 public educational charity; donations are tax-deductible.

The Vision

It is the endeavor of the Genius Garage concept to grow upon its successes in the high-end professional world. This educational model works perfectly and is already accredited with getting students job, internship, and scholarship attention and placement. It is the vision to have automotive racing, aviation, and hydroplane racing sub-teams under the greater Genius Garage brand, involving younger students, and potentially opening an interactive museum/learning center dedicated to these three branches. The model is perfectly suited as a non-profit as we actively seek out positive collaborations between manufacturers, racing teams, business and educational institutions, museums, and generous private persons. These collaborations serve to give the brightest young minds their shot to show the world what they are capable of and begin a career that warrants achievement at their full potential. It is our belief that industries and nations stand strongest when they best utilize and inspire their youth.

Why?

Genius Garage was created to bridge the gap from academia to industry giving students with spark an opportunity to grow and prove their worth to potential employers. This gives them the best possible transition from the academic world to their professional careers. Industry stands to benefit from from hiring the Genius Garage team members as they posses more than academic technical knowledge, but the personal and behavioral traits as well as the styles of thinking that make them valuable members of any team as well as the leaders of tomorrow.

What?

Genius Garage develops hands-on skills and provides practical work experience for a select group of the brightest and most driven college students. The students come from academic backgrounds ranging from engineering to fine art, music, business, and journalism. The various projects, including aerospace, racing, automotive design and social media content creation, help provide a crucial “vehicle” for the student’s experiences, as few professional worlds teach the skills required to master these channels.

Who?

Genius Garage is run by volunteer professional mentors. Volunteers, speakers, and leaders range from global CEOs to sports professionals, fighter pilots, racing engineers, members of Interpol, entrepreneurs, and even the former Chief of Staff to Sir Winston Churchill. The program was founded and directed by Casey Putsch, an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and racing driver that has been known for his automotive creations and accolades.
